History of AMHSSE

Association of Manitoba Hydro Staff and Supervisory Employees Labour Certificate # MLB-6391.

Defined as All employees employed by Manitoba Hydro, in the Province of Manitoba, except professional employees, those covered by certificate MLB-6388 (IBEW 2034), MLB- 6389 (CUPE 998), MLB-6390 (CEPU/UNIFOR).

AMHSSE was established in May 29, 1973 by the Manitoba Labour Board.

On May 29, 1973, the Manitoba Labour Board, by way of Certificate No. MLB-2543 certified the Association of Manitoba Hydro Staff and Supervisory Employees for a unit described as:

"All those employees of Manitoba Hydro within the Province of Manitoba with the exception of the following:

  1. Those persons who are not within the definition of "employee" as defined in Section l(k) of the Manitoba Labour Relations Act
  2. Professional employees as defined in Section l(t) of the manitoba Labour Relations Act.
  3. Those employees within the scope of the Manitoba Hydro Employees Association Bargaining Unit as defined in Certificate No. MLB-982.
  4. Those employees within the scope of Local 2034, international Brotherhood of Electrical Workers bargaining unit as defined in Certificate No. MLB-907."

On January 26, 2007, the Board issued Consent Order No. 35. Arising from that Consent Order, the Board also issued Certificate No. MLB-6388, replacing Certificate No. MLB-907; Certificate No. MLB-6389, replacing Certificate No. MLB-982 ; and Certificate No. MLB-6390. The Board further DETERMINED that consequential amendments were required to Certificate No. MLB-2543 that it deemed appropriate.

The Board corresponded with the Union and Employer, advising that it intended to amend the bargaining unit described in Certificate No. MLB-2543 to:

"All employees employed by Manitoba Hydro, in the Province of Manitoba, except professional employees, those covered by Certificate Nos. MLB-6388 (/BEW Local 2034), MLB-6389 (CUPE Local 998), MLB-6390 (CEPU Local 681) and those excluded by the Act."
